Aloha Lōkahi ʻohana,

Another race day is in the books, and your dedication at the Kalihi Kai Canoe Club Regatta was inspiring to witness. Race two of the season is where we start to see our hard work pay off and where we identify our new challenges. I am proud of the fight I saw from every crew.

We went up against some fierce competition and not only held our own but showed significant improvement across the board. We increased our total points to 25 and, most importantly, we had more crews on the water, completing 12 races and reducing our scratches from two to just one. This is progress. This is momentum.

A huge congratulations to our crews who placed in the top three!

  • Men 70: Another incredible performance, securing a 2nd place finish and a silver medal with a time of 4:33.34!
  • Men Novice A: Fantastic work moving up the ranks to take 3rd place and a bronze medal with a time of 4:42.27!

Your results are a testament to your focus and power.

Digging into the Results

Beyond our medal winners, there were standout performances and hard-fought battles all day. We saw more crews finishing in the top half and scoring crucial points for the club.

Here are some highlights from the day:

  • Women Junior: A strong 4th place finish in a tough junior division.
  • Men 60: Battled to a 4th place finish in their respective event.
  • Men Senior, Mixed Men and Women & Men 40: All secured a 5th place finish, showing grit and scoring points.
  • Men Open Four: Showed great improvement, moving up to 6th place.

Every crew that hit the water contributed to our tie for 4th place in the A Division. We entered 13 events, and the fact that 12 of them crossed the finish line shows our growing commitment and preparedness.

Our Path Forward

While we celebrate our successes, we must also be hungry for more. We earned more points this week, but our divisional standing held steady, which tells us one thing: the competition is getting tougher, and we must rise to meet it.

Our goal is clear: zero scratches. Let’s continue to improve our logistics and communication to ensure every paddler is at the line, ready to race for their teammates.

In practice this week, we will focus on consistency. We have proven we have the speed to compete with the top crews; now, we need to bring that intensity to every single race. We will work on maintaining our form and power through the middle of the race and finding that extra gear for the final push.

Thank you for your hard work and your heart. The progress is real and measurable. Let's carry this momentum forward.

Imua Lōkahi!
